Biography
She was born in 1934 in a peasant family in the village of Voloka, Zucava Suceava, Kingdom of Romania (today - Glyboksky District, Chernivtsi Region , Ukraine). After graduating from school in her native village, she joined the collective farm in 1949. At first she worked as an ordinary collective farmer, later a beet-link link was appointed.
In 1957, the beet-growing link under the leadership of Maria Dovgey collected 598 centners of sugar beets from each hectare. For this valiant work, she was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor in 1958.
She was elected a deputy of the Chernivtsi Regional Council of People's Deputies.
She died in 2004 in her native village of Voloka.
