Description
The length of males is up to 4.19 mm (females are larger - up to 6.05 mm). Only have 2 eyes. A ventral translucent keel on the anterior metatarsus and a strongly reduced translucent membrane between the metatarsus and the foot of the anterior pair of legs are developed. The species Orthonops lapanus was first described in 1940 by American arachnologists Willis John Gertsch ( Willis John Gertsch , 1906-1998) and Stanley Mulaik ( S. Mulaik ). In 1995, its validity was confirmed during a birth audit by American arachnologist Professor Norman Platnik ( Norman I. Platnick ; American Museum of Natural History , USA ). The taxon Orthonops overtus is included in the genus Orthonops Chamberlin, 1924 (together with Orthonops gertschi , Orthonops giulianii , Orthonops icenoglei , Orthonops overtus , Orthonops ovalis , Orthonops zebra and others) [1] [2] [3] .
