County Craighead ( eng. Craighead County ) is located in the United States , Arkansas . Officially formed on February 19 , 1859 . As of 2010 , the population was 96,443 people. Received its name in honor of the American political figure Thomas Craighead .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 1,847 km², of which 1,831 km² is land and 14 km² or 0.8% is water.

Demographics
According to the 2000 census [1] , 82,148 inhabitants live in the county, consisting of 32,301 households and 22,093 families . The population density is 45 people per km ². On the territory of the district there are 35 133 residential buildings, with a building density of 19 buildings per km ². The racial composition of the population: whites - 89.27%, African Americans - 7.78%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.33%, Asians - 0.60%, Hawaiians - 0.02%, representatives of other races - 0.93 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.06%. Hispanic was 2.12% of the population, regardless of race .
32.30% of the total number of households are children under the age of 18, 53.30% of households are married couples living together, 11.40% of households are single women without a spouse, 31.60% of households households are not related to families , 25.20% of households consist of one person, 9.10% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.46 people and the average family size is 2.96 people.
The age structure of the county is 24.10% younger than 18 years old, 14.00% from 18 to 24, 28.70% from 25 to 44, 21.40% from 45 to 64 and 11.80% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 93.80 males . For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.50 males .
