Diospyros vescoi (lat.) Is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the persimmon genus ( Diospyros ) of the Ebenaceae family [2] [3] [4] .

The plant was first described in 1873 by the British botanist William Philip Hearn . The vescoi species epithet was given in honor of the researcher of Madagascar and Mauritius, J. Vesco, who, approximately in 1850, first collected samples of this species in the northern part of the island ( Port Leven ) [5] .

A tree with alternating, leathery, obovate leaves , covered with curved hairs on both sides, on hairy petioles pressed from above and rusty young shoots.
Inflorescences appear in the axils of the leaves of young shoots, with a rusty brown spine . The flowers are bell-shaped, the cup is hemispherical, four-parted, pubescent on the outside, the corolla is usually also four-lobed (less often with three or five petals). Stamens in the amount of 13-16 [5] .
