Kostich is a pupil of Radnichki clubs from his hometown. In 2009, at the age of 17, he made his debut for the team in the Serbian championship . On September 26, 2010, in a match against Novi Sad , Philip scored his first goal [2] . At the end of the season, Crvena Zvezda , Belgian Anderlecht , Italian Udinese and English Tottenham Hotspur showed interest in the midfielder.

In 2012, Kostich moved to the Dutch “ Groningen ”. The transfer amount was 1.3 million euros. On October 21, in his match against Heerenveen , he made his debut in Eredivisi [3] . In the first season, Philip rarely went on the field, but soon was able to prove his worth and won a place at the base. October 20, 2013 in a duel against PSV, he scored his first goal [4] . In the second season, Kostich scored 11 goals and became one of the leaders of the club.

In the summer of 2014, Philip moved to the German “ Stuttgart ”, signing a contract for five years [5] . The transfer amount amounted to 5 million euros. On August 24, in a match against the Mönchengladbach Borussia , he made his debut in the German Bundesliga , replacing Alexander Maxim in the second half [6] . On December 13, Kostich scored his first goal for Stuttgart in a duel against Mainz 05 [7] . At the beginning of 2016, Dortmund Borussia and Liverpool were interested in Philip [8] , and in the summer Valencia offered him 12 million euros [9] . At the end of the season, “Stuttgart” flew out of the elite and Kostich left the team.

In July 2016, Philip signed a five-year contract with Hamburg [10] . The transfer amount amounted to 14 million euros. On August 27, in a match against Ingolstadt 04 , he made his debut for a new club [11] . On November 20, in a duel against Hoffenheim , Kostic scored his first goal for Hamburg [12] .

International Career

On June 7, 2015, in a friendly match against the Azerbaijani national team, Kostic made his debut for the national team of Serbia [13] . On September 5, 2016, in the qualifying match of the 2018 World Cup against the national team of Ireland, Philip scored his first goal for the national team [14] .

In 2018, Kostich took part in the World Cup in Russia . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Costa Rica [15] , Switzerland [16] and Brazil [17] .
