Biography

Born in the family of a military pilot. Father was a soloist in the amateur choir at the Air Force Academy. N.E. Zhukovsky . He dreamed of becoming a conductor, he sang in a choir in the Red Army Houses in different cities, for some time he learned to play the violin.

After graduation, he entered the Aviation Institute, but, leaving him, he left for Moscow and entered the vocal department at the Music College at the Moscow Conservatory . A.M. Zheleznov, whose father Maslennikov had once been involved in, became his first teacher.

In 1951 he entered the Moscow Conservatory , having the intention to study only with E.K. Katulskaya , whose singing he once heard on the radio. A year later he was enrolled in her class.

In 1953, as part of the Moscow student choir, he participated in the IV International Festival of Youth and Students in Bucharest, in 1955 - in the classical singing competition at the V International Festival of Youth and Students in Warsaw, where he received the title of laureate and a silver medal. From the third year he took part in the performances of the Opera Studio of the Conservatory.

In 1956-1985 he was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater , where partners, in particular, were G.P. Vishnevskaya , I.K. Arkhipova , E.V. Obraztsova . In 1965, 1966 and 1967 he participated in the Salzburg festivals , performed the parts of the Holy Fool and the Pretender in the opera Boris Godunov under the direction of Herbert von Karayan [1] . April 7, 1974 at the Bolshoi Theater he performed the role of Alexei in the first production on the opera stage of the opera The Player by S. S. Prokofiev in Russian (2nd edition) [2] . Since 1985 he was engaged in opera directing [3] .

Alexey Dmitrievich passed away on November 30, 2016. He was buried on December 2, 2016 at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.
