Biography

Early years

Aleksey Kuzmich Sterelyukhin was born on March 30, 1913 in the village of Totskoye, now Totsky District of the Orenburg Region, into a peasant family. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1935. Education incomplete higher, he graduated from pedagogical school in Buzuluk . Before being drafted for military service, he worked as a propagandist in the Totsk District Party Committee and simultaneously completed two courses of the Orenburg Pedagogical Institute.

Participation in the Great Patriotic War

He graduated from the Ruzaev military officer training school. In the battles of World War II from July 1943 until the day of death - October 29, 1943, he fought on the Central Front , participated in the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of Ukraine. Badly wounded. Awarded the Order of the Red Star.

Feat

On September 23, 1943, the 2nd Battalion of the 207th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 70th Guards Rifle Division was the first in the regiment to cross the Dnieper near the village of Teremtsy , and then Pripyat south of the city of Chernobyl, Kiev region . The party organizer of the Sterlyukhin battalion supervised the crossing and, taking the boat, personally transported the soldiers and weapons.
