It was formed in accordance with the law of the city of Sevastopol dated June 3, 2014 No. 17 - ЗС “On the establishment of borders and the status of municipalities in the city of Sevastopol" . [3]

Geography
The municipal district comprises the Ship and Northern sides of Sevastopol , on both banks of the Sevastopol Bay , in the eastern part of the city limits of the city of Sevastopol proper. Administratively occupies the most southwestern (main city) part of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol. It borders in the north with Kachinsky , in the northeast - with the Verkhnesadovsky municipal districts of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol; in the southeast - with the city of Inkerman , in the south - with the Balaklava municipal district of the Balaklava district of Sevastopol, in the south-west - with the Leninsky municipal district of the Leninsky district of Sevastopol. In the west and northwest - it is washed by the Black Sea .
