The 1908 Russian Athletics Championship was held on June 14-15 in St. Petersburg and became the first such tournament in the history of the country. It was organized by the St. Petersburg Circle of sports enthusiasts ("Sport") in honor of its 20th anniversary. The main competition arena is located on Krestovsky Island ( Petrovsky Prospekt , 7). Competitions took place in 10 athletics disciplines.

Competition
The competition was attended by 45 athletes from 6 clubs: Sport ( St. Petersburg ), RNOLS ( St. Petersburg ), Tarmo ( St. Petersburg ), Narva Sports Club ( St. Petersburg ), English football club Neva ( St. Petersburg ) and Union ( Riga ). Foreign nationals were allowed to the championship, but have been living in Russia for at least a year. The participants in the championship set 5 new records in Russia (three of them were on the account of the thrower Nikolai Neklepayev ).
