Biography

Yevnei Arstanovich Buketov was born on March 23, 1925 in the Baganat aul of the Petropavlovsk district of the Akmola province of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of the RSFSR of the USSR (now the village is located in the Gorodets rural district of the Shal Akyn district of the North Kazakhstan region of Kazakhstan ).

He began to study in 1932 at the Makushinsky grain farm in Chelyabinsk (now Kurgan region ), where his father worked as a laborer, where they left because of starvation in Kazakhstan . In 1938, Buketov with his parents returned to his homeland. Yevnei Buketov continued his studies at the district center, the village of Maryevka (now at the bottom of the reservoir on the Ishim river ), but was forced to interrupt his studies and go to work after graduating from grade 9 in 1941. He worked as a teacher of elementary and incomplete secondary schools of the Sergeevsky (former October) district. He taught Evnei Arstanvich until the spring of 1945 and in the spring externally passed the exam for the certificate of maturity [1] .

He graduated from the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute in 1950 , was left in graduate school. Then he was on pedagogical and scientific work at this university. He defended his thesis in 1954 on the problems of molybdenum and its chemical analysis.

Since February 1954, he worked as an assistant, and since September 1956, as an assistant professor of the Department of Metallurgy of Light and Rare Metals of the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute. From August 1958 to February 1960, he was Deputy Director of KazGMI for Academic Affairs.

Since 1960, director of the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR in Karaganda.

Buketov was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1969 for participating in the development and implementation of the technology for the integrated processing of copper concentrates of the Balkhash Mining and Metallurgical Plant using oxygen at the conversion stage with the supply of granulated Zhezkazgan concentrates in a shaft furnace with an inclined grate as a “cold additive”.

From March 1972 until mid-January 1980 he was rector of the Karaganda State University . In 1962, he was promoted to senior researcher in the specialty "Non-Ferrous Metals Metallurgy". In 1966, in the joint Scientific Council of the Moscow Order of the Red Banner of Labor of the Institute of Steel and Alloys, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the subject of "Extraction of selenium and tellurium from copper-electrolyte slags." In 1967, Buketov participated in the World Exhibition in Montreal (Canada). In 1970, he was elected a corresponding member, and in 1975 - a full member (academician) of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences. In 1978-1982 he organized in Karaganda the 1st and 2nd All-Union Meetings on the theme "Chemistry and Technology of Chalcogenes and Chalcogenides."

Much has been done by E. A. Buketov in the field of ferrous metallurgy. The proximity of Temirtau to Karaganda brought him closer to the metallurgists of this city. He paid much attention to ferroalloy production in terms of the possibility of using high-ash coal for ore thermal smelting of off-balance manganese ores into complex ferroalloys.

In the last years of his life, E.A. Buketov paid great attention to the production of liquid fuel (gasoline) from high-ash brown coals of various deposits of the Karaganda basin and created a special laboratory for this purpose. In 1983, the management of KhMI proposed Eunus to head the ferrous metallurgy laboratory. He agreed.

Eunay Arstanovich was not only a prominent scientist, but also a literary critic, translator, publicist, poet and writer. He wrote in Russian and Kazakh .

Member of the CPSU . The delegate of the 13th, 14th congresses of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan , was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the Karaganda regional Council. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the medal "For Valiant Labor" and twice the Certificate of Merit of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR [2] .

Yevnei Arstanovich Buketov died on December 13, 1983 in Karaganda , was buried in Karaganda .
