Content
History
The idea of ββcreating Heart to Heart International arose in 1986 . Then Dr. Gary Morsch and other Rotary International members carried out a mission to deliver drugs after the Chernobyl accident in the USSR . [1] After that, Gary founded an organization that helped poor people around the world. [2] In their first 12 years of existence, Heart to Heart International spent $ 387,131,297 on humanitarian aid. Headquarters Heart to Heart is located in Olet ( Eng. Olathe ) in Kansas. [3]
Programs
Internal Programs
Heart to Heart International operates in a number of cities throughout the United States , and volunteers from the organization help the poor and the needy, including homeless people, victims of abuse and abuse, the elderly and people without access to medical care. Heart to Heart also organizes the annual National Public Works Day.
International Programs
Over the past 3 years, the organization has carried out programs in the following countries.
- East Asia and the Pacific: Cambodia, China, East Timor, Fiji, Federated States of Micronesia, India, North Korea, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam
- Europe and Central Asia : Afghanistan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Pakistan, Georgia, Romania, Tajikistan and Ukraine
- Africa : Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, CΓ΄te d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- Latin America and the Caribbean : Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Projects
- Uzbekistan : in October 2002, the organization together with Physicians with Heart Airlifts raised $ 10 million for medical assistance to Uzbekistan
- Middle East : Heart to Heart International currently has teams located in Cyprus and Jordan . They are engaged in water treatment and provide medical assistance to refugees.
- Indonesia : When an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred on the Indonesian island of Java , Heart to Heart International sent volunteer teams to the cities of Jakarta and Bantul. Volunteers provide water and medicine to those in need.
- USA : after the impact of Hurricane Katrina , Heart to Heart International was one of the first humanitarian organizations to take part in helping the victims along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The organization sent about 100 people to local clinics who performed surgeries for free. Heart to Heart also opened a clinic there.
- PRC : after the earthquake in Sichuan province in China, Heart to Heart was one of the first to respond. She organized an emergency operations command center in the capital of Chengdu and provided assistance in the affected areas.
- Tajikistan : On October 25, 2005, the organization raised $ 8 million for medical care in Tajikistan.
