Fedetsky, Alfred Konstantinovich

Alfred Konstantinovich Fedetsky ( 1857 , Zhytomyr - 1902 , Minsk ?) Is a famous Russian photographer of Polish descent, one of the first filmmakers of the Russian Empire . He shot the first Russian film . He made a significant number of portraits of famous people of the Russian Empire, including members of the Imperial Family.

Biography

Alfred Fedetsky was born in 1857 in Zhitomir in a Polish theater family not approved by the noble heraldry. Fedetsky’s father, Konstantin Fedetsky (born February 15, 1815), was a theater entrepreneur, director, and actor. Alfred Fedetsky graduated from the Photographic Institute at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (KK Lehr und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und Reproductionsverfahren). After graduating in 1880, Alfred Fedetsky came to Kiev , where he worked as director of a photo studio V. Vysotsky . In 1886 - moved to Kharkov , where on Yekaterinoslavskaya st. (now Poltava shlyah) opened a shop. The author of portraits of P. I. Tchaikovsky, I. K. Aivazovsky and dozens of other famous people.

He experimented in the field of relief, color, stereoscopic photographs, photographs on porcelain. He was "a photographer of Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna ."

The first Russian film

In 1896, Fedetsky made the first documented Russian film.
The first filming on the territory of the Empire by her citizen (before that there was only the shooting by the Frenchman Camille Cerf of the coronation of Nicholas II in May), a shooting of Fedetsky called "The Solemn Transfer of the Miraculous Ozeryansky Icon from the Kuryazhsky Monastery to Kharkov " on September 30, 1896 . Fedetsky also shot the second and third Russian films: this is “ Dzhigitovka of the Cossacks of the First Orenburg Cossack Regiment ” at the Kharkov race hippodrome on October 15, 1896 and “View of the Kharkov station at the time of departure of the train with the authorities, which is located on the platform” (around November 4, 1896). Further films

The 1st Orenburg Cossack Regiment was in Kharkov, and Fedetsky decided to take off the life of the Cossacks . (At that time, the Cossack cavalry was considered the best in Europe). Fedetsky made the film “Dzhigitovka Cossacks of the 1st Orenburg Regiment”, it was a documentary film demonstrating the life of the Russian cavalry. A little later, Fedetsky takes off “View of the Kharkov station at the time of the departure of the train with the authorities on the platform.” In 1897, he shots films “Festivities on Horse Square”, “Riding on Red Square” and the game “Magician Albany”.

Foreign companies such as Pate and the Lumiere brothers were ready to buy his films, but categorically refused to show under his name.
This did not suit Fedetsky, and he decides to open his own cinema. He buys a booth with a projector, rents a room and starts showing films. His paintings are successful, but the cinema burns out during a fire with all the films. After losing his films, Fedetsky decides to stop filming and return to photography .

Interesting Facts

Held in London [ when? ] international photo exhibition. To participate in the exhibition, it was necessary to submit 24 photographs describing an event. Fedetsky prepared a vivid story about the architecture of the monasteries of Russia. Many in Europe for the first time realized that the architecture of Russian monasteries is a work of high art.
