Karapet Simonyan Simonyan ( June 6, 1918 - December 12, 1983 ) - major of the Red Army , participant in the Soviet-Finnish and World War II, the first representative of the Armenian people, awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .

Biography

Born on June 6, 1918 in Tiflis , now the city of Tbilisi - the capital of the Republic of Georgia , in a working-class family. Armenian. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1945 . He graduated from 10 classes. He worked at a confectionery factory.

In the Red Army since 1938 . Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940.

Red Army soldier of the 1st company of the 91st separate tank battalion of the 20th heavy tank brigade named after S.M. Kirov , radio operator of the T-28 tank , Komsomol member Karapet Simonyan distinguished himself on December 13, 1939 during reconnaissance of the enemy’s defense west of Lake Muolanyarvi on the Karelian Isthmus. During the performance of a combat mission, his tank was hit. Having broadcast the last radiogram, together with the commander and the rest of the courageous crew of the five-tower T-28, he repulsed the enemy’s attacks . Then he left the combat vehicle and carried four wounded from the battlefield . In this battle, the crew destroyed two bunkers , a large number of enemy soldiers .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1940 “for exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Finnish White Guard and courage and heroism shown at the same time”, Red Army soldier Simonyan Karapet Semyonovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 7444).

In subsequent battles, K.S. Simonyan was awarded the rank of junior lieutenant , and as commander of a tank platoon he reached the Finnish city of Vyborg with battles. After the end of the “winter war” K.S. Simonyan continued his military service. On the fronts of World War II from December 1941 , participated in battles in the North Caucasus. In 1942 he graduated from the Tbilisi Artillery School , and in 1943 - the Higher Officer School. After being wounded at the front, the former commander of the artillery battery, Captain K. S. Simonyan, trained the junior command personnel for the army . Since 1944, Major K. S. Simonyan - retired.

In the post-war years, K.S. Simonyan worked in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Security of the Georgian SSR , later - at the Tbilisi shoe factory "Lux", as the head of the workshop of the educational-industrial complex No. 1. He lived in the city of Tbilisi. He died on December 12, 1983 .

He was awarded the Orders of Lenin and Red Star , the Gold Star medal of the Hero of the Soviet Union and other medals.
