Biography
Born on June 15, 1906 in the village of Karpovka [1] (now - the Soviet district of the Kursk region ) in a peasant family. Russian. Primary education. The family was large with 20 children, and in order to help his father, he had to stop studying at 10 years old. He was a shepherd at a local landowner. After the death of his father, he remained on the farm, joined the collective farm. In 1936, he and his wife left for the city of Kirovsk in the Luhansk region . He worked as a loader in the Central Forestry.
At the beginning of World War II he was mobilized for defensive work. In the village of Suntyuk, Zaporizhzhya region was surrounded, and then in a prisoner of war camp. In November 1941 he fled, but already at the front line, was captured by the Nazis and again sent to the camp, in the city of Artemovsk. In 1942 he fled again, was in the occupied territory until her release.
In January 1943 he was drafted into the Red Army and enlisted in the 310th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Infantry Division. In March of the same year, when he attacked the Glazunovka station north of the city of Kursk, he was wounded in the leg and shoulder. Having discharged from the hospital, with a marching company, he arrived in the 197th Infantry Division and was assigned a machine gun number to the 322nd Infantry Regiment. He participated in the battles on the Kursk Bulge. In the battle on August 1, he carried the fighters into the attack, putting a group of German soldiers on the run. Was presented for the award.
As part of the regiment liberated Ukraine . On February 23, 1944, he was again injured, this time in the arm. After the hospital, he was sent to the 1348th Infantry Regiment. With this regiment participated in the battles for the liberation of Belarus. For courage and courage in breaking through enemy defenses, the regiment commander awarded him the medal "For Military Merit." And two weeks later, when repulsing an enemy counterattack, he was seriously wounded. He spent two months in the hospital. After the cure, it was not possible to get into our unit. Private Semenov arrived in the 487th Infantry Regiment of the 143rd Infantry Division, which stood near Warsaw on the Vistula River. Given his age and injuries, he was assigned to be a wagon in the rear unit, but Semenov was asked to be a gunner to the front line. Intensive preparation for new battles was going on in the regiments. By order of January 9, 1945, Private Semenov Egor Dmitrievich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree for courage and bravery shown in the battles on the Kursk Bulge.
On January 15, 1945, Private Semenov, as part of the squad, crossed the Vistula River 15 km northwest of the city of Warsaw. After powerful artillery preparation, having crossed across the Vistula ice, the soldiers, overcoming strong fire resistance, went on the assault of the enemy defense. Semenov was among the first to reach the west coast, burst into a trench and in hand-to-hand combat destroyed three fascists. Expanding the bridgehead, the fighters led by Semenov were the first to burst into the village of Chanstkow, threw grenades of Nazis who were seated in the outer houses, captured the houses and kept them until reinforcements arrived. By order of the 47th Army on February 11, 1945, for the courage and bravery shown during crossing the Vistula and in fights on the bridgehead, Private Semenov Egor Dmitrievich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree. Here, on the bridgehead north of Warsaw, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
Developing success, the troops of the 47th Army rushed to the Oder, but in the area of Altdam, east of Stettin, they met stubborn resistance from the enemy. On March 27, Private Semenov, acting as part of the squad, was the first to attack the assault on a height of 60.6. Having burst to a height, in a trench battle he destroyed five Nazis from a machine gun. Left alone at the machine gun, opened fire on the retreating enemy and destroyed another twelve enemy soldiers and a light machine gun. In this battle, he was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield. He was presented to the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. After recovering, he caught up with his regiment in the area of Spandau, the western suburb of Berlin, and took part in the final battles to seize the fascist capital.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, for the exceptional courage, courage and fearlessness shown at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War in battles with the Nazi invaders of the guard, Senior Sergeant Semenov Egor Dmitrievich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.
In November 1945, E. D. Semenov was demobilized. He returned to the city of Kirovsk, where he again began to work as a loader of the Central Forestry. In 1955, due to poor health, he went to work at mine No. 6 of the Kirovugol Trust as a supplier of explosive materials. He died on March 16, 1992.
He was awarded the orders of Glory of 3 degrees, World War 1 degree, medals.
