The series was commissioned on January 9, 2014 by OWN as a television adaptation of Perry's movie The Single Moms Club, starring Nia Long , Wendy Maclendon-Covey , Amy Smart , Sulay Henao and Coco Brown [1] . After the failure of the film at the box office [2], the concept and name of the series were changed, and Sulay Enao, meanwhile, repeated her role from the film. Edwina Findley , Heather Hemmens , April Parker Jones and Amanda Clayton, meanwhile, got the rest of the leading female roles, playing characters not involved in the film [3] [4] [5] . February 27, 2015 the series was extended for the second season of twenty-two episodes [6] .
