Title
In the geology of the Ruhr coal basin, the term “Zilberbank” is used to refer to one of the working coal seams of the “ Gottfried Wilhelm ” mine.
History
Coal mining on the territory of the mine was carried out long before the start of its preparation for commercial operation in 1800 . The mine officially went into operation and coal mining began in 1802 . Up to 10 tons of coal were recovered daily to the surface, but in 1804 mining ceased. It was not until September 9, 1913 that the mine returned to service, restoring old workings. In 1815, her tunnel drift docked with the Herman mine [1] . At this time, one of the co-owners of the Zilberbank mine was the well-known Ruhr businessman Matthias Stinnes . By 1820, the mine's capabilities were exhausted and its gradual conservation began, which lasted 10 years. Already in 1820, only 6 miners worked in lavas. In the first half of 1830, the last tens of tons of coal were lifted up the mountain and in June the mine was finally closed.
Memory
There were no traces of the existence of a mine in the area, but the city of Essen left a memory of the mine in a different way: in Rellinghausen, one of the streets was called “Silberbankstrasse”. The name of the street was assigned on September 16, 1910 [2] .
