Timeline of Chelsea Grin

My Damnation is Chelsea Grin's second studio album. The group entered the studio in early 2011 and completed recording in the middle of the year. The title track was released as a single on April 17, 2011. My Damnation was released on July 19, 2011 via Artery Recordings.

Music Style

Vocalist Alex Köhler stated that the album contains a certain concept, unlike previous albums; “I wanted to write songs based more on a person’s travels from a selfish tyrant to a hyena who seeks forgiveness and salvation. I did not try to write a religious or spiritual album. I just wanted to find the concept of heaven and hell completely fascinating, so it makes it easy to write about it ” ^[4] .

The lyrics of the album refer to hell and the eternal damnation after death. Musically, the album contains much more guitar solos than previous ones ^[5] ^[6] .

Due to a broken jaw, Alex could not growl while inhaling, so he had to sing while exhaling.
