Paul Riser ( born Paul Reiser ; born , ) is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, composer, writer and television presenter. Founder of the production company Nuance Productions [2] . It occupies 77th place in the 2004 list of "100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time" according to the American cable television channel Comedy Central [3] .

Biography
Paul Riser was born on March 30, 1957 in New York, into the Jewish family of Sam (wholesales health food distributor) and Helen (housewife) Riser [4] . The family also had three daughters, the sisters of Paul [5] . He studied at the East Side Hebrew Institute , then at the Stuyvesant High School [5] , then graduated from the University of Binghamton with a major in piano, composing music. While studying at the university, he performed at the university theater [6] , during the summer holidays he acted as a stand-up comedian in New York clubs, it was then that Paul chose his future profession.
For the first time on a wide screen, Riser appeared in 1982 in the movie “Eatery,” in the same year, viewers first saw him on television in the film The Toast of Manhattan . The main fame for Riser was brought by the television series “Crazy About You” (1992-1999), in which he not only played a major role in 162 episodes, but also wrote the main musical theme for him (together with ) [7 ] , scripted for 161 episodes and produced 117 episodes. For this series, Riser was nominated for various film awards for several consecutive years, including Emmy and Golden Globe , and by the end of the last season his fee was up to a million dollars for one episode [8] .
Since 1987 he has been acting as a screenwriter, since 1992 as a producer. In 1995, he was the host of the Grammy Award ceremony, and in 1996, the Prime Time Emmy Award . In 2011, he released his own comedy show , seven episodes were shot, but only two were aired [9] .
Paul Riser is the author of three essays : Couplehood on the ups and downs of marital relations, Babyhood on his first paternal experience and Familyhood (2011, a collection of humorous essays). Interestingly, the Couplehood , printed in a print run of over two million copies, starts right off the 145th page.
On August 21, 1988, he married the psychotherapist Paul Ravens [4] , the couple has two sons: Ezra Samuel (born 1995) and Leon (born 2000). Paul Reiser's cousin is a legal scholar, professor at several universities, born (born 1943).
