Biography
Born on October 1, 1923 in the village of Nizhneveseloe, now Velikopisarevsky district of Sumy region, in the family of an employee. Graduated 10 classes.
In the Red Army and in the battles of the Great Patriotic War since September 1941. He distinguished himself in the liquidation of the blockade of Leningrad , the liberation of the Baltic states, Poland , the crossing of the Vistula, the Oder, the storming of Berlin. Member of the CPSU / CPSU since 1943.
Tank mechanic driver of the 1st tank battalion of the 220th separate tank brigade, foreman Vladimir Shandyba, on January 25, 1944, killed several enemy vehicles and three machine-gun points in the area of Voyskovitsy station as a crew, and destroyed up to ten soldiers. By the order of March 7, 1944 "for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the German fascist invaders," Sergeant-Major Shandyb Vladimir Danilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
In the same fighting squad, Vladimir Shandyba, during the fighting for the liberation of Poland on January 17-23, 1945, together with the crew, destroyed seven enemy guns, nine machine guns and several faustnikov. By order of February 15, 1945 "for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the German fascist invaders," Sergeant-Major Shandyb Vladimir Danilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
In mid-March 1945 in battles on the bridgehead north-west of the city of Kustrin as part of the crew suppressed an artillery battery and a machine gun of the enemy. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, "For exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with German fascist invaders," Sergeant-Major Shandyb Vladimir Danilovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree, becoming a full knight of the Order of Glory.
In 1945, V.D. Shandyba was demobilized. He graduated from the Odessa Financial College. He lived in the city of Okhtyrka Sumy region . He worked as a senior auditor of the Akhtyrka city finance department. He died on October 17, 2008. Buried in Akhtyrka.

Awarded 2 orders of the Patriotic War, 1 st degree, 2 orders of the Red Star , orders of Glory 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd degrees, medals. Honorary citizen of the city of Akhtyrka.
Memory
In the town of Akhtyrka, in honor of V.D. Shandyba, a bust was installed on the Alley of Heroes and a memorial plaque on the house in which he lived.
