Biography

Born on May 25, 1919 in the village of Pushkarnoye, now Krasnopolsky district of the Sumy region, in a peasant family. He graduated from 6 classes in the village Pushkarnoye. Moved with his parents in the Donbass. He worked as an electrician at the mine.

In the Red Army since 1939. Member of the Great Patriotic War since May 1942. Fought on the Western, Stalingrad, Southern, 4th Ukrainian , 1st Baltic and 3rd Belorussian fronts.

He distinguished himself during the liberation of Sevastopol, during the crossing of the Neman River, during the storming of the height near Trutenau. In the battles for the city of Koenigsberg was wounded. The mortar man of the 84th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard Junior Sergeant Pavel Skoropad on May 5, 1944, in battles on the approaches to Sevastopol under enemy fire, transferred up to twenty wounded soldiers to the shelter, rendered them first aid and at night took them to a medical center. Order of May 17, 1944 "for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the German fascist invaders" Guards junior sergeant Skoropad Pavel Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On August 19, 1944, a junior sergeant Pavel Skoropad destroyed twelve infantrymen of the enemy in the battle near the village of Gordy, a foreman of the same regiment, division and army of the guard. Order of September 30, 1944 "for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the German fascist invaders" Guards junior sergeant Skoropad Pavel Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On January 28, 1945, in battles on the outskirts of the city of Königsberg, the company’s foreman of the same regiment and division of the guard sergeant Pavel Skoropad was among the first to burst into the enemy’s trench and destroyed up to ten Nazis from the machine gun. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, Sergeant Skoropad Pavel Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st Degree for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the Nazi invaders, becoming the full holder of the Order of Glory.

In May 1945, P. M. Skoropad was demobilized. He lived in the city of Makeevka, Donetsk region . He worked in the mine administration "Sovetskugol". He died on June 24, 1977.

He was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees, medals. In the town of Makeyevka, a memorial plaque was installed on the house in which P. M. Skoropad lived. In the urban-type settlement of Krasnopole on the Alley of Heroes he was set a memorial plaque.
