Mother is a teacher of German, Belarusian language and literature, father Stanislav Iosifovich Yatsevich is a school director, a teacher of history and geography [2] . In 1982 she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Belarusian State University named after V.I. Lenin , in 2000 - from the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus .

From 1982 to 1984, she worked in the Minsk region as a photojournalist for the regional newspaper Shlyakh Kamunizmu (Russian: “The Way of Communism”).

From 1984 to 1992 - in Minsk: editor, senior editor of the publication of the Scientific Research Institute of Automation Means (NII SA, today this enterprise of the military-industrial complex is called OJSC "AGAT - Control Systems").

In 1992–96 - editor, chief specialist, deputy head of the media department of the Ministry of Culture and Press of Belarus. Deputy Head, Head of the Information and Analytical Department of the State Committee for Press of Belarus (1996-2001). From the moment of foundation, she worked in the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus : Deputy Minister (2001-2003), First Deputy Minister (2003-2014), Minister (2014-2017). The name of Lilia Ananich was included under No. 110 in the “black list” of officials who, prior to the lifting of sanctions, were banned from entering the EU [3] . In her position, the deputy minister noted severe sanctions against the non-state press [4] .

On June 30, 2014, by decree of Alexander Lukashenko, she was appointed Minister of Information of Belarus. She continued her repressive practice as a minister, issuing “warnings” to the media, blocking Russian and Belarusian sites on the basis of “expert opinions” created by the Ministry of pseudo-expert structures (“republican commissions”), initiating criminal prosecutions of journalists and publicists [5] [6] .

On September 28, 2017, by presidential decree, she was relieved of the post of Minister of Information of Belarus, according to the official version, in connection with her resignation [7] .

“We cannot present any extraordinary claims to her and remove her from office. We must clearly understand that it will work in another area. Then you will report to me where you propose to employ her, ”Alexander Lukashenko instructed the head of the Presidential Administration, Natalia Kochanova , commenting on the circumstances of the appointment of the new Minister of Information [8] .

According to an unofficial version circulated in the Russian media, the reason for Lilia Ananich’s resignation was the high-profile criminal “Regnum’s case” (“the case of pro-Russian publicists”) initiated in December 2016, in which she played a key role [9] [10] [11] . With her direct participation, three Belarusian publicists - Dmitry Alimkin, Yuri Pavlovets and Sergey Shiptenko were arrested, accused of “inciting hostility and discord between the peoples of Belarus and Russia,” spent 14 months in the Minsk Volodarka pre-trial detention center and in February 2018 were sentenced to five years in prison each for journalistic activities in the Russian media [12] [13] [14] . During this period, Ananich came into conflict not only with the Russian media, where Belarusian authors were published, but also with the RF Ministry of Communications and Roskomnadzor , disseminating information on this criminal case, which the Russian department did not confirm [15] .

Estimates of the results of Ananich’s activities as Minister of Information of Belarus in the media of the Union State are mixed, among independent media they are mostly negative [16] [17] . The next information minister was her deputy, editor-in-chief of the Belarusian-language newspaper Zvyazda (Zvezda) Alexander Karlyukevich [18] .

Since 2018, Lilia Ananich has been the head of the Belarusian Union of Publishers and Distributors of Print [19] .
