Description
The length of males is up to 3.38 mm (females are larger - up to 5.04 mm). Only have 2 eyes. They have a ventral translucent keel on the anterior metatarsus and a strongly reduced translucent membrane between the metatarsus and the foot of the anterior pair of legs. The species Orthonops icenoglei was first described in 1995 by American arachnologist Professor Norman Platnik ( Norman I. Platnick ; American Museum of Natural History , USA ) together with Orthonops overtus and named after the biologist W. Aisengl ( Wendell R. Icenogle ), a collector of the type series. He collected them under stones on the southern slope of the Deep Canyon at an altitude of 3,600 feet in the Santa Rosa Mountains in California ( Riverside County ). The taxon Orthonops icenoglei is included in the genus Orthonops Chamberlin, 1924 (together with Orthonops gertschi , Orthonops giulianii , Orthonops iviei , Orthonops johnsoni , Orthonops zebra and others) [1] [2] .
