According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 1,580.0 km², of which 1,580.0 km² is land and 4.4 km² or 0.3% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , the district has 7,129 residents consisting of 2,046 households and 1,782 families . The population density is 5.00 people per km 2 . In the district there are 2,158 residential buildings, with a building density of about 1.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 98.11%, African Americans - 0.04%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.18%, Asians - 0.15%, Hawaiians - 0.00%, representatives of other races - 0.45 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.07%. Hispanics made up 1.44% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 49.70% are children under the age of 18, 79.60% of households are married couples living together, 5.60% of households are single women without a spouse, 12.90% of households households are not related to families , 11.70% of households consist of one person, 5.80% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older), living alone. The average household size is 3.48 people and the average family size is 3.81 people.
