Biography
Andre Nzapayke was born on August 20, 1951 in a Christian family in Bangasu , French Equatorial Africa [1] . He was Secretary General of the African Development Bank and Vice President of the Bank of Central African States .
Prime Minister
On January 25, 2014 , at the height of the interfaith conflict , Andre Nzapaike was appointed interim prime minister of the Central African Republic [2] . He said that his priorities would be preparing the country for the 2015 elections and stopping atrocities within the country for several months as a key step towards rebuilding the state [3] . On January 27, Nzapeike formed a new government, which included 20 ministers, including seven women and one representative of the Christian anti-balak detachment [4] . UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a statement addressed to Nzapayka and the President of the Central African Republic, Catherine Samba-Panze, expressed his welcome on the formation of a new government, noting that this “provides new favorable opportunities to assist the political process” in the country, and that thanks to the attached you managed to “put on the rails” a transition process [5] .
On June 4 , after calls for a general strike in Bangui and the resignation of the government, Andre Nzapaike decided to ban the sending of SMS messages throughout the country [6] [7] . Later, A. Nzapayke called on members of Muslim and Christian groups to lay down their arms and stop inter-religious violence. As a result, not militants, but about 200 local Muslim residents who found weapons on the streets came to Bangui City Hall and the metropolitan areas of Begua and Bimbo. Nzapayke said that “we must encourage everyone who voluntarily brings grenades and ammunition, who support the peace process. We must encourage those who come and the rest of the population ” [8] .
On August 5, President’s press secretary Catherine Samba-Panza announced on air of a state radio station that “Prime Minister Andre Nzapaike and his cabinet have resigned at the request of the head of state” [9] [10] . On August 10, Catherine Samba-Panza appointed Mahamat Kamun to the post of Prime Minister of the Central African Republic [11] .
