Biography

Born July 25, 1977 in the city of Aleisk, Altai Territory .

He graduated from high school in his homeland, and in 1994 - the Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School .

In the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation since 1994 .

In 1998 he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School .

Since 1998, he commanded a reconnaissance platoon in the 247th Guards Parachute Regiment .

Since August 1999, paratroopers fought in Dagestan against the invading gangs from Chechnya of Basayev and Khattab. He showed courage and high professionalism in battles. Commanding a reconnaissance group, he completed a number of important tasks of the command, inflicting heavy losses on the militants. There he was awarded a medal in Dagestan .

In October 1999, Russian troops were advancing along the territory of Chechnya.

On October 14, 1999, a group of senior lieutenant Minenkov was returning from the next reconnaissance exit in the area of ​​the village of Shelkovskaya, when the scouts were ordered to rescue the special forces unit surrounded by large enemy forces. Secretly approaching the enemy on two infantry fighting vehicles, the scouts suddenly attacked him from the rear. Many militants found their death in this battle, without even realizing what happened. After a few minutes, the surrounded and attacking fighters connected. Without wasting time, Mikhail Minenkov led the evacuation of the wounded and organized retreat. Himself with several scouts left to cover the removal of the wounded and the bodies of the dead to the location of Russian troops. In this battle, the BPM unfolding next to Mikhail blew up a mine, several fighters were injured and shell-shocked, and Mikhail Minenkov was seriously wounded in the leg. However, he pulled his leg in a tourniquet and continued to command and fire at the enemy. He was taken out of the battlefield by his fighters. Both groups of the Airborne Forces safely reached the main forces. In the hospital, the leg was amputated. But the willpower and strong body of the athlete helped to survive.
