Biography
Ivan Vasilyevich Sobolev was born on October 23, 1923 in the family of a peasant Vasily Dmitrievich Sobolev in the village of Pershinsky, the Pershinsky Village Council of the Pershinsky Volost, Shadrinsky district, Yekaterinburg province , and now the village council is part of the Dalmatovo district of the Kurgan region . He graduated from 7 classes. Then he lived in the city of Sverdlovsk . After graduating from a vocational school, he worked as an electric welder at the Uralmash plant.
In the Red Army was called on March 16, 1943 to the Ordzhonikidze RVK of Sverdlovsk. Baptism of fire took on the Kursk Bulge, liberated Ukraine , Poland . Was injured. He fought in the Urals Volunteer Tank Corps.

Our troops were preparing to break through the enemy defenses near the village of Bzovitsa in the Ternopil region . Ivan Sobolev unnoticed penetrated to the front edge of the enemy, disguised. On July 18, 1944, in battles on the outskirts of the city of Zolochiv, the reconnaissance group, in which the corporation Sobolev acted as a guard, infiltrated the enemy’s location for reconnaissance. The group with valuable intelligence was already returning to its own when it was discovered by the Nazis and surrounded by the village of Olshanitsy, not far from Lvov. Sobolev showed courage and first rushed to the enemy. As a result of the fleeting battle, more than 10 Nazis were destroyed. The next day, July 19, the enemy began to retreat from the village of Olshanitsy. Sobolev with a group of scouts entered the flank of the retreating Nazis and started a battle. As a result, it was destroyed near the platoon of enemy soldiers. In one of the battles, he noticed an enemy machine gun disguised in rye, secretly crawled over to him and threw grenades at the Nazis. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 23, 1944, for exemplary performance of the tasks of the command in battles with the German fascist invaders of the guard, the corporal Ivan Vasilyevich Sobolev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On January 14, 1945, during the general offensive of the Soviet units in Poland, the guard junior sergeant Sobolev under heavy fire as a member of the group made his way to the enemy, in the village of Pekoszów. On the night of January 17, a group of scouts broke into the railway station, destroyed three Nazi guards and seized several wagons with military cargo. He died in battle on March 26, 1945 during the destruction of the Oppeln-Ratibor German group during the Upper Silesian offensive operation .
