Biography
Born in the village of Olkhovka (now - Perevolotsky district of the Orenburg region ). After graduating from high school, he worked as a shoe maker. In October 1941, he was called up for service in the Red Army . Since February 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .
By November 1944, the guard sergeant Nikolai Roshchin commanded a sapper platoon of the 3rd Guards Airborne Regiment of the 1st Guards Airborne Division of the 53rd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished himself during the liberation of Hungary . On November 5, 1944, a platoon of Roshchin transported Soviet fighters and commanders through Tisu in the area of the village of Tisasolles to the south of Tisafured . Under massive enemy fire, Roshchin made 10 flights, crossing a large number of shooters and light artillery. During the subsequent offensive, Roshchin’s platoon also successfully transported a large number of soldiers and commanders across the Malaya Tisa River [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Sergeant Nikolai Roshchin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 6597 [1] .
After the war he continued serving in the internal troops. In 1949 he was demobilized. Last years he lived in Orenburg . Actively engaged in social activities [1] .
Awards and titles
Honorary Citizen of Orenburg. He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
Memory
In his honor was named the street in Perevolotsky [1] .
