Openvpx

OpenVPX is the industry standard VITA 65 for the system level of embedded processor systems of the VPX specification, designed to ensure full compatibility of VPX modules from various manufacturers. [1] [2]

The OpenVPX 1.0 standard (VITA 65) defines several system profiles and how to implement the corresponding set of VITA 46.x specifications in them. The first version of the VITA 65 specification, developed by the OpenVPX Industry Working Group of 28 companies, was ratified by the VSO (VITA Standards Organization) as a standard in early 2010.

Interfaces

A comparative analysis of the characteristics of OpenVPX (VITA 65) and VPX (VITA 46) revealed a number of differences between them, the key of which is the support in the VITA 65 specification for higher data rates through contact connections. For example, instead of the 3.125 Gbit / s (2.5 Gbaud) in the previous version of VITA 46.0, VITA 65 can transfer up to 6.25 Gbaud per differential pair of contacts, including in accordance with the PCI Express Gen 2 interface standard. FPGA Mezzanine Card

FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) - the format of mezzanine modules used in OpenVPX systems as function boards [2] . The design of the modules is determined by the VITA 57 specification. FMC boards have dimensions of 69 × 76.5 mm or with a double size - 139 × 76.5 mm. There are also two types of connectors that have the same dimensions, but differ in the number of contacts used: the Low Pin Count (LPC) version uses 160 contacts (4 rows of 40 contact slats), and the High Pin Count (HPC) version uses 400 (10 rows of 40 contacts).

FMCs are most widely used as ADCs , DACs, and digital I / O converters.
