Description

Small myrmycin ants (length about 3 mm), brown. Antenna with mace of 3 segments, short scapus . The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed. It differs from similar species in the longer propodeal spines of the metanotum. Head worker index (CI, head-to-length ratio × 100): 95–97. The length of the head of the workers is 0.56-0.68 mm, the length of the scape is 0.40-0.47 mm, the width of the head is 0.54-0.65 mm. Worker's scapus index (SI, ratio of scapus length to head width × 100): 69–75. Petiolus, postpetiolus and abdomen are smooth and shiny [1] .

The species Tetramorium alperti was first described in 2014 by American worldmecologists Francisco Hita Garcia and Brian L. Fisher ; Entomology, California Academy of Sciences , San Francisco , California , USA ) together with the taxon Tetramorium aspis . The taxon Tetramorium alperti is included in the species group T. naganum species group of the genus Tetramorium (together with T. dalek , T. enkidu , T. gilgamesh and T. naganum Bolton, 1979 ) and is named after the entomologist Gary D. Alpert , Cambridge , Massachusetts , USA) for his contribution to the study of ants of Madagascar. It is similar to the species T. dalek , T. enkidu , T. gilgamesh , T. naganum [1] [2] [3] .
