Biography
Born December 15, 1909 in the village of Uritskoye [1] in a peasant family. Russian. He graduated from seven classes of high school. He worked in the village of Ivanovka, Bagansky district, Novosibirsk region .
In 1942, drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . In the battles of World War II from October 1942. He fought on the Central Front .
Shooter of the 385th Infantry Regiment, Komsomolets Private N. G. Shepelev distinguished himself on October 1, 1943 in repelling an enemy counterattack near the village of Yasnogorodka in the Vyshgorod district of the Kiev region . When the company commander was out of order, N. G. Shepelev took over the company command. The enemy’s counterattack was repelled.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for the exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism shown to this, Private Nikolai Gavrilovich Shepelev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .
After the end of World War II, he continued to serve in the army. Junior Lieutenant N.G. Shepelev died on July 5, 1958. He was buried in Kiev at the Shuliavsky cemetery .
A street in Kiev is named after the Hero.
