Biography

He was born on January 18, 1922 in the village of Pervomaiskoye, now Glukhovsky District, Sumy Region, in a peasant family. Ukrainian. Secondary education. He worked as a tractor driver in the village of Nachiki.

In the army since September 1940. Member of the Great Patriotic War since August 1941. He fought near Stalingrad , on the Kursk Bulge, crossed the Dnieper, took part in the Belorussian, East Prussian, and Berlin offensive operations. He distinguished himself in battles near Vitebsk, in East Prussia, near the city of Hindenberg.

On June 26, 1944, reconnaissance platoon intelligence officer of the 24th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the Guard, Sergeant Polozov, conducting reconnaissance in the area of ​​the settlement of Yanovo, precisely established the enemy firing points and his manpower. Gave valuable information to the command of the enemy, which contributed to the correct decision making and occupation of Janowo. During the reconnaissance of fire from his machine gun guard, Sergeant Polozov killed 6 Germans with fire from his machine gun, and captured one, which he delivered to the regiment headquarters in a timely manner. By order of the 5th Guards Cavalry Division No. 014 / n dated July 24, 1944 "for exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the Nazi invaders" of the guard, Sergeant Polozov Yefim Denisovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On January 19, 1945, the regiment conducted military operations on the approaches to the border of East Prussia. Guard sergeant Polozov received the task of scouting the route of the regiment and the village that the regiment should be occupied. Fulfilling the order Polozov on the way met three German cars. Letting them close, he threw grenades at them and shot the Germans fleeing in panic with automatic fire. In this battle with the enemy of the guard, Sergeant Polozov destroyed 9 German soldiers, 2 officers, and one car. On January 26, 1945, the Guard was given the task of Sergeant Polozov to reconnoiter the composition and strength of the enemy in the village of Yaddy. Having got into the enemy's battle formations, he revealed the firing points and the strength of the enemy. Timely and accurately reported enemy information, thereby making it possible to make the right decision, which greatly facilitated the task to the regiment. By order of the commander of the 2nd Belorussian Front No. 0124 / n dated February 14, 1945 "for exemplary execution of the command assignments in battles against the Nazi invaders" of the guard, Sergeant Polozov Yefim Denisovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On April 30, 1945, the sergeant Polozov, as part of the reconnaissance platoon, was given the task of reconnaissance of the regiment’s route through the settlements of Voltersdorf, Dolgov, Hindenberg, Kepernitz, Tsekhnov. In carrying out this task, Polozov acted as a head watch. The enemy, defending the village of Hindenberg, missed the head patrol and opened machine-gun fire at the core of the reconnaissance platoon. Sergeant Polozov, not confused for 30 minutes by the fire from the machine gun and throws of hand grenades, destroyed the German soldiers, and after that, the Soviet soldiers arrived in time and overturned the defending enemy. In this battle, he personally destroyed 13 Germans and 3 captured. Continuing to carry out the task, and while approaching the village of Kepernits, the reconnaissance platoon discovered up to 300 retreating Germans. Having made a quick decision, bypassing and disguising the area, Sergeant Polozov, as part of a reconnaissance platoon, jumped out behind enemy lines and set up an ambush for the retreating Germans. When the enemy approached, the scout opened fire on the Germans right at point blank range. As a result, the Germans, unable to withstand the fire of the scouts, surrendered. Up to 200 Germans were delivered to the headquarters of the regiment. In this battle, the scout Polozov personally destroyed up to 27 Germans.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945, Sergeant Polozov Yefim Denisovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st Degree for the exemplary execution of command assignments in battles with the Nazi invaders, becoming the full Knight of the Glory.

In 1946, E. D. Polozov was demobilized. Returned home. He worked at a sugar factory in the urban-type settlement of Voronezh, Shostkinsky district of Sumy region . Member of the CPSU in 1967-1991. In 1970 he graduated from 10 classes of high school. He lived in his native village of Pervomaiskoe. He died on May 20, 2000. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Pervomaiskoe.
