Pike County is located in the United States , Pennsylvania . It was officially established on March 8 , 1814 . As of 2010 , the population was 57,369. The county center is Milford . It got its name in honor of the American brigadier general and researcher Zebulon Pike .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 1,469 km², of which 1,417 km² are land and 52 km² or 3.50% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , the district has 46,302 residents comprising 17,433 households and 13,022 families . The population density is 33.00 people per km 2 . There are 34 681 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 24 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 93.10%, African - Americans - 3.27%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.24%, Asians - 0.62%, Hawaiians - 0.01%, representatives of other races - 1.30 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.47%. Hispanics accounted for 5.00% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 34.40% are children under the age of 18, 63.50% of households are couples living together, 7.60% of households are single women without a spouse, 25.30% of households households are not related to families , 20.70% of households consist of one person, 8.40% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.63 people and the average family size is 3.06 people.
The age structure of the district: 26.70% under the age of 18, 5.30% from 18 to 24, 27.70% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 25.10% from 65 and older.
