Laflèche [1] or Flash (also Flash or la Flèche ; fr. Poule de La Flèche ) is a breed of chickens bred in the village of Mézeray, in the Sarthe region of France , and named after the city of La Flèche Flèche), where, according to documents of 1831, chicken meat of this breed was sold in large quantities at autumn and winter fairs , including for shipment to Paris . Flash is one of the ancient "table" breeds of France. The history of the breed begins in the Anjou region back in the 15th century. A characteristic feature of the breed is a V-shaped ridge , resembling horns. Roosters weigh from 3.6 to 4.5 kg, hens from 2.7 to 3.6. The predominant color is black, although other varieties are found. Chickens retain the instinct of incubation . In the XIX century, the breed was brought into the Russian Empire, where it also gained fame as a “dining room” due to the high taste qualities of meat and eggs, although Russian poultry farmers recognized that this breed lacked early maturity [2] . In the XX century, due to its low profitability, the breed practically disappeared and is currently preserved in France in a small amount as a genetic reserve and gastronomic delicacy among lovers.
