Bellenden monteithi (lat.) Is a species of predatory short-winged beetles , the only one in the monotypic genus Bellenden from the subfamily moths ( Pselaphinae ) [1] .

Distribution
Australia ( Queensland ) [1] .
Description
Small short-winged beetles - palps ( Pselaphinae ). Body length 2.0-2.2 mm. The body is covered with long semi-spaced setae (except for the central part of the elytra). The eyes of males and females consist of 12 facets. Maxillary palps with a very long thin second and thickened fourth segments (each of which exceeds its head in length). The antennae club is implicit (the last segment is the largest). Abdomen with a groove on visible 2 (IV) wipe. The species was first described in 2001 by the American entomologist Professor Donald S. Chandler ( Chandler Donald S .; University of New Hampshire , Durham , New Hampshire , USA ) [2] together with the taxa Mareeba storeyi , Peckiella podocarpus , Kakadu pecki , Pselaphogenius recheri , Eudranes okei , Jardine kistnerorum and others. The taxon Bellenden monteithi was isolated into a separate monotypic genus Bellenden and assigned to the tribe Pselaphini from the subfamily Pselaphinae [3] .
