Scientific Interests and Works

His research interests include biogeochemistry, marine ecology, environmental pollution and its assessment, ecotoxicology, biological methods for restoring degraded environments and disturbed ecosystems, and environmental education. N.K. Khristoforova created a school of specialists in bioindication and environmental quality monitoring, assessment of its natural and anthropogenic changes, the response of organisms to living conditions. In recent years, while continuing to monitor the state of the marine environment, she and her colleagues have focused on air pollution, using modern methods and focusing on nano- and micro-sized particles of atmospheric suspension.

He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 4 monographs, 2 study guides, 2 teaching aids, a textbook for universities “Fundamentals of Ecology” (1999, 2007, 2013) and 34 publications in journals indexed by Web of Science .

Expeditionary Activities

N.K. Khristoforova was a participant and leader of many coastal and permanent scientific secretaries of several international sea expeditions organized by institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. She worked in nine seas of the oceans.
