The Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Lebanon is the diplomatic representative of the Holy See in Lebanon . This diplomatic post is occupied by the church-diplomatic representative of the Vatican with the rank of ambassador . According to tradition, in Lebanon the Apostolic Nuncio is the doyen of the diplomatic corps , although Lebanon is not a Catholic country, but with a high percentage of Maronite Christians . The Apostolic Nunciature in Lebanon was established on a permanent basis on March 21, 1947 . Its headquarters is in Beirut .
Currently, the Apostolic Nuncio in Lebanon is Archbishop Joseph Spiteri , appointed by Pope Francis on March 7, 2018 .

The Apostolic Nunciature in Lebanon was established on March 21, 1947 in the pope “ Ad christifidelium salutem ” of Pope Pius XII .
