Passing chlorine through a suspension of decacarbonyldimanganese in carbon tetrachloride :

Chloro (pentacarbonyl) manganese forms light yellow crystals.

It is not soluble in petroleum ether and carbon tetrachloride, soluble in benzene , chloroform and acetone .
