Tey ( Vietnamese. Hồ Tây , tj-nom 湖西 ) - a freshwater lake in the center of Hanoi . The coastline is about 17 km long, it is the largest lake in the capital of Vietnam . It is a popular holiday destination, surrounded by many gardens, hotels and villas.

History
Lake Thay emerged from the old Hongkhi and is surrounded by many Vietnamese legends. One legend claims that the lake appeared after the battle between Lac Long Kuan and the spirit of a nine-tailed fox . Thay is surrounded by places related to the history of Hanoi and Vietnam. Here is the Chan Quoc Pagoda , Vietnam's oldest pagoda [1] , built in the VI century and now located on a small island in the middle of the lake. Next to this pagoda is the Temple, one of the four sacred temples of ancient Hanoi.
Recreational Use
Being the largest lake in Hanoi and located right in the center of the Vietnamese capital, Lake Thay is surrounded by many gardens, hotels, restaurants and other entertainment venues.
