Hisayoshi Takeda ( Jap. 武 田久吉 , 1883 - 1972 ) is a Japanese botanist who made a significant contribution to modern ideas about the systematics of the flora of East Asia.

Biography
Hisayoshi Takeda was born on March 2, 1883 in Tokyo to the family of British diplomat Ernest Satou and Takeda Kane. He studied English at the Tokyo School of Foreign Languages, in 1910 went to London . He studied at Kings College , while working at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew . In 1912 he graduated from the engineering department of Kings College. In 1913 he returned to Japan, but since 1915 he continued his studies at the University of Birmingham. In 1916 he received a doctorate degree in botany for his dissertation on the flora of Shikotan .
Subsequently, Takeda worked as an instructor at Taihoku University, Kyushu University, Kings College and Kyoto University. After the end of World War II, he worked as an advisor at the Bureau of Natural Resources of Japan.
In 1970, Takeda was awarded the Prince Chichibu Memorial Academic Award.
Hisayoshi Takeda passed away on June 7, 1972 .
