Bivol completely dominated the ring in almost all rounds, knocked Valera twice, but could not finish the fight ahead of schedule. At the end of 12 rounds, the judges gave victory to Dmitry Bivol with a score of 119: 107, 119: 107 and 116: 111.
On November 4, 2017, a fight with the Australian Trent Broadhurst took place. Shortly before the fight, Bivol was appointed a full-fledged WBA champion . The fight ended at the end of the first round. A blow to the right, Bivol sent the Australian into a heavy knockout.

On August 4, 2018, a fight took place with the ex-challenger, Malawian Isaac Chilemba (25-5-2). Bivol controlled almost the entire course of the battle, but did not seek early victory and did not go on aggravation with an opponent. Having lost almost all rounds, Chilemba, however, acted more successfully in the end of the match and was better than the champion in the eleventh round. The fight went the entire distance, as a result of which two judges gave victory to Bivol in all rounds (120-108), while the third considered the confrontation more competitive, setting the score 116-112 in favor of the Russian [3] .

The best for Pascal was the tenth round, where he was able to conduct a series of successful attacks, but he spent a lot of energy and gave the Russians the next two rounds. As a result, the battle ended with Bivol's victory by unanimous decision of the judges with a score of 117: 111, 119: 109 (twice) [4] .

In the seventh round, Bivol shocked the opponent with a left hook, but Smith stayed on his feet, and at the end of the tenth round he even managed to shock the opponent with a powerful right-handed kick, after which the Russian staggered into his corner. Nevertheless, Bivol neutralized the attacks of the perked opponent in the next round, and at the end of the final three minutes he was close to an early victory. The result of the battle was the victory of Bivol by unanimous decision of the judges with a score of 118-110, 119-109 (twice) [5] .
