Biography

Konstantin Rodenko was born on March 7, 1923 in Tashkent . He graduated from nine classes of the school. Prior to being drafted into the army, he lived and worked in Solikamsk . In 1944, Rodenko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By April 1945, Sergeant Konstantin Rodenko commanded the guns of the 224th artillery regiment of the 70th Infantry Division of the 43rd Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the battles in East Prussia . During the battle for the fortified Gross-Friedrichsberg area at the approaches to Koenigsberg, Rodenko’s crew destroyed 4 machine guns, 1 observation post, 1 artillery gun and a large number of enemy soldiers and officers. During the reflection of the German counterattack, Rodenko personally destroyed about 40 enemy soldiers and officers. On April 9, 1945, in the battle for the Moditten stronghold, Rodenko’s crew built a bridge over the canal and was the first to break into the enemy’s position, destroying 1 enemy heavy tank. During the reflection of the German counterattacks, Rodenko personally destroyed 17 enemy soldiers [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1944, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Sergeant Konstantin Rodenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal " Under the number 8867 [1] .

After the war, Rodenko continued to serve in the Soviet Army. He lived and worked in Tashkent. He died on June 25, 1985, was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the Tashkent Military Cemetery [1] .

He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
