Decorative breeds of chickens are bred for experimental and aesthetic reasons [1] , although, like chickens in general, they also have some economic value.
History
Historically, decorative kurovodstvo became the second direction in poultry farming after fighting [2] . Breed decorative hens were used as decoration of courtyards of titled persons, for ritual purposes, and later as exhibits at exhibitions, an original decoration of private courtyards. During their selection of decorative breeds, the main attention was paid to the exterior, and productivity was ignored. Therefore, decorative chickens have a low egg production, often require special attention due to unusual characteristics (tufted, shaggy, long-tailed, tailless, silky, curly, bare-skinned, thick-legged, etc.) All miniature versions of ordinary breeds can also be attributed to decorative chickens; breeds bearing eggs of an unusual color, as well as having an unusual feather color at a young and / or mature age.
