History
Under the Tang Empire, this territory was divided between the districts of Zongcheng (宗 城县), Jincheng (经 城县) and Fucheng (府城 县). Under the Song Empire, in 1073, Jincheng County was annexed to Zongcheng County. Then these places were conquered by the Jin empire, and in 1201 the Mingzhou region (洺 州) was formed, which included the provinces of Zongcheng and Minshui (洺 水 县). Under the Yuan Empire, in 1234, Zongcheng County was annexed to Mingshui County, which remained subordinate to the Mingzhou Region. In 1247, Minshui County was subordinated to the Weizhou Region (威 州). In 1252, the Weizhou Region Administration moved to Minshui. In 1255, Guanzong County was allocated from Minshui County. Under the Ming Empire, in 1369 the region was demoted to a county - this is how Weixian County appeared.
In August 1949, the Xingtai Special District (邢台 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In May 1958, Xingtai Special District was disbanded, and the county became part of the Handan Special Region (邯郸 专区), and in December it was annexed to Nangong County. In May 1961, the Xingtai Special District was re-established, and Nangong County became part of it again, and in July, Weixian and Qinghe Districts were again separated from it. In 1969, Xintai Special District was renamed to Xingtai District (邢台 地区).
In 1993, by decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Sintai County and the city of Xingtai were disbanded, and the Xingtai City District was formed.
Administrative Division
Weixian County is divided into 7 villages and 9 volosts .
