Biography
In 1996-2010, at the beginning of his career, Bates worked in various positions at Cisco Systems , including the position of Senior Vice President [2] .
Then in 2010, Bates became the CEO of Skype Limited, an Internet telephony company [3] , which, with his successful assistance in 2011, was acquired by Microsoft for $ 8.5 billion . As a result, Microsoft formed the new Skype Division, whose head became Tony Bates.
From July 2013 to March 2014, he served as Microsoft Executive Vice President of Business Development. When Satya Nadella took the position of CEO of Microsoft Corporation, then Bates and a number of other Microsoft top managers left the company [4] .
In June 2014, action camera maker GoPro made an official announcement that Tony Bates was hired as the new president and will join the company's board of directors [5] [6] .
