Palaeopsychops maculatus

Palaeopsychops maculatus (lat.) Is a fossil species of retina of the genus Palaeopsychops of the family Ithonidae (formerly in Polystoechotidae ). Found in Eocene deposits of Europe (Fur Formation, Denmark , about 50 Ma). The size of the front wing is 40.0 × 17.5 mm. The species Palaeopsychops maculatus was first described in 2001 by the Danish paleoentomologist Stig Andersen ( Stig Andersen ; Geological Museum, University of Copenhagen , Copenhagen , Denmark ) together with the taxa Palaeopsychops abruptus , Palaeopsychops latifasciatus Palaeopsychops angustifasciatus and other new species. The taxon Palaeopsychops maculatus is included in the genus Palaeopsychops Andersen 2001 . Sister taxa: P. abruptus , P. quadratus , P. dodgeorum , P. latifasciatus , P. angustifasciatus , P. douglasae , P. marringerae , P. setosus , P. timmi [1] [2] [3] .
