History
Under the Western Han Empire, Nanyi County (南 亦 县) was established here, subordinate to Juulu County (钜 鹿 郡). Under the Northern Wei Empire, in 445, Nanyi county was annexed to Baizhen (柏 人 县), but was recreated in 497. Under the Northern Qi Empire, Nanyi County was annexed to the Renxian County, but under the Sui Empire in 586 it was recreated again. In 605, Nanyi County was renamed Jiulu (钜 鹿 县). Under the Tang Empire, in 618, Baici County (白 起 县) was allotted from Jiulu County, but in 622 it was rejoined by Jiulu County. Under the Song Empire, in 1073, Pingxiang County was annexed to Juul County, but was re-allocated in 1086. Under the Ming Empire, in 1373, Guanjong County was divided between Juulu and Pingxiang counties, but was recreated in 1380.
Xingtai Special District (邢台 专区) was created in August 1949, and the county became part of it; the spelling of its name was changed to modern. In May 1958, the Xingtai Special District was disbanded, and the Renxian, Nanhe, Pingxiang, and Guangjong counties were annexed to Juil County, which became part of the Handan Special District (邯郸 专区). In 1960, the Handan Special District was disbanded, and Juulu County came under the jurisdiction of Handan City. In May 1961, the Xingtai Special District was re-created, and Jiulu County was reintroduced into it, having lost its territories in 1958. In 1969, Xintai Special District was renamed to Xingtai District (邢台 地区).
In 1993, by decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Sintai County and the city of Xingtai were disbanded, and the Xingtai City District was formed.
