Biography

Ivan Repin was born on September 23, 1917 in the village of Lystem (now the Celtinsky district of Udmurtia ). After graduating from junior high school, he was in administrative positions. In 1938, Repin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By September 1943, Senior Sergeant Ivan Repin commanded the guns of the 6th Artillery Regiment of the 74th Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Chernihiv region of the Ukrainian SSR . On September 12, 1943, Repin’s crew crossed the Desna River north of the city of Korop and took an active part in the battles for capturing and holding a bridgehead on its shore, destroying 2 tanks and a large number of enemy soldiers and officers [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for "exemplary execution of the combat missions of command and the courage and heroism shown", Senior Sergeant Ivan Repin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 1686 [ 1] .

After the war, Repin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1944, he graduated from the Leningrad Military-Political School, in 1951 - courses for the improvement of officers. In 1958, with the rank of Major, Repin was sacked. He lived and worked in Kiev .

He died on July 16, 2003, was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kiev [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and World War 1 degree, three orders of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
