Biography
Mikhail Remizov was born on October 13, 1918 in the village of Vykhino (now within Moscow ). Prior to being drafted into the army, he lived in Ivanovo , worked as an assistant foreman, and graduated from two courses at the Ivanovo Energy Institute. In June 1941, Remizov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the Penza Artillery School. Since May of that year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By January 1945, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Remizov commanded the battery of the 258th Light Artillery Regiment of the 200th Light Artillery Brigade of the 4th Tank Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On January 12–16, 1945, his battery participated in the breakthrough of German defense northwest of Sandomierz , inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. The massive fire of Remizov’s battery contributed to the tank and rifle units in the liberation of the city of Konsk , crossing the Oder [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for “exemplary command of the battery and personal courage and heroism shown at the same time”, senior lieutenant Mikhail Remizov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7829 [1 ] .
After the war, Remizov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1956 he graduated from the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Academy, in 1962 - Higher Academic Courses. In 1966, with the rank of Colonel Remizov, he was sacked. He lived in Kiev .
He died on May 13, 1993, was buried in the Berkovetsky cemetery of Kiev [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
