Biography

He studied at Kharkov University . In 1833 he entered the military service as a full-time university student. Made in the guards of the cuirassier Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna regiment . In 1835 he entered the Imperial Military Academy in St. Petersburg , which he graduated in 1837 . The following year he was assigned to the General Staff of the Russian Army [2] .

In 1840 he was sent to the disposal of the Orenburg Governor General . In 1842, he became a member of the Commission of Senator I.N. Tolstoy , who conducted an audit in Eastern Siberia . From 1843 to 1845 he was engaged in the production of topographic works in Western Siberia . Under the leadership of Agte, extensive geodetic and topographic works were carried out with astronomical location , semi-instrumental eye surveys and reconnaissance along the Russian-Chinese border, plans for the border fortresses of the Troitsko-Savskaya, Gorbitskaya, Novo-Tsuruhayskaya and Aksha, as well as the border Cossack guards in the Trans-Baikal region 2] [1] . In 1953 he made a report on the results of the expedition to the Russian emperor Nicholas I ; in the same year, for excellent performance of his duty, he was promoted to colonel [2] .

The Crimean War began in 1853 , and in 1854 Agte was sent to the Abo detachment to protect the coast of Finland , where he served in the Baltic theater of operations until the end of the war in 1856 . In 1857 he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 2nd Cuirassier Division .

For health reasons, he was forced to leave military service. January 1, 1859 resigned, awarded the rank of Major General . He spent the last years of his life in Ukraine

He died in 1867 . He was buried in the village of Sednevka of the Elizavetgrad district (now the Kirovograd region of Ukraine ) in the cemetery at the Ilyinsky church [3] .
