The Intervision 2015 Song Contest is the planned sixth Intervision song contest and the first since its revival in May 2014 . [1] The competition was supposed to be held in the Russian city of Sochi , which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics . Countries eligible to compete are members of the Commonwealth of Independent States , the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the former Soviet Union . [2] The initial date for the competition was October 2014 . Later, the organizers of the competition, Viktor Drobysh and Igor Matvienko , announced that the competition would be rescheduled for spring or autumn 2015 . The reason was the political situation in Russia. [3] After the announced time periods, no official news was received from the organizers - the competition did not take place.

Venue
Russian singer and producer Igor Matvienko announced the revival of the Intervision song contest, which was scheduled to be held in October 2014 in Sochi , the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics . [2] [4]
Members
7 countries confirmed their participation in the competition: China , Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Russia , Turkmenistan [5] , Tajikistan and Uzbekistan [6] . Of these, using the national selection, only the participant from Russia, Alexander Ivanov, was selected [7] [8] .
Other countries
The competition was open to members of the Commonwealth of Independent States , the Shanghai Cooperation Organization , the former Soviet Union (including the Baltic States ) as well as South Korea and Japan [1] [9] .
Failure
- Latvia - On February 27, 2015, the Latvian broadcaster LTV announced that the country would not participate in the 2015 contest in Sochi [10] .
